Ten O’clock Tour with Medusa
A strand of coiled snake-for-hair is all that we see of this former priestess, now cursed Gorgon. Members of the tour wear special goggles so that they will not turn to stone as they follow Medusa around the art museum. Medusa makes a perfect docent because of her knowledge of ancient art and unique perspective. The artwork she chooses for her tour remains deeply personal, historical, and symbolic.
Background text fragments convey asemic handwriting, a nod to the artist Cy Twombly, who frequently drew inspiration from stories in classical antiquity. Medusa would love the raw, visceral emotion expressed in his work. Map fragments are of Wyoming, an American state that possesses natural beauty and room for solitude.
