Lilith Won't You Please Come Home

The choice to depict Eve’s precursor, Lilith — a sexually voracious figure whose only fault is insisting on equality and autonomy — is a compelling one, and reinterprets embedded cultural narratives and considers nonconventional points of view. There is no paradise lost for Lilith, only paradise turned down. She has no patience for knee-jerk reactions or regrets. Here in Lilith Won’t You Please Come Home, the female figure is based on the likeness of  Fernande Olivier, Picasso’s muse and lover. The background text is a page from Roman de Troie (The Romance of Troy),  a fourteenth century Italian illuminated manuscript about the marriage of Paris and Helen titled The map fragments are of North Dakota.
